Identia Press
Identia Press produces thoughtful and stimulating books, posters, and websites that explore topics and issues related to design. Our first publication, Signs in the Environment, presents a photographic survey of the broad range of signs encountered in our daily lives. Understanding Design, a website under development, will be available at no cost to design, engineering, and business school students. It examines, with photographs and text, the many functional, aesthetic, economic, and technological factors that are part of a thorough design endeavor.

Excerpt from Understanding Design
Design is perceived by the general public to be
the appearance of an object. It is, in fact, much
more complicated than that. Understanding
Design presents in visual form a checklist of over
70 basic factors that should be considered in any
responsible design effort. It is a kind of online
textbook, available to those studying design.
The site also gives business executives and
property owners a quick, broad introduction to
design so they might work with designers in
a more informed way.
